Phillip Family Mission Trip - LIMA, PERU - June, 2011We had a great time of ministry during our week in Peru. The theme of our trip was to "take Heaven to Peru" and we did! During the days, we visited an all-girls orphanage called "Hope House", an all-boys orphanage called "Centro Shama", a battered women's home called "Pat's Place", and a home for destitute children called "Villa la Paz." During the evenings, we partnered with local churches to hold "revival" services. Our goal was to share the love of Jesus Christ with the poor and hurting people of Peru. |
==========<   HOPE HOUSE   >==========Hope House is the place that really gripped Drew's heart. Hope House is a refuge and orphanage for neglected and abandoned girls, generally aged between 7 and 18 years. It broke Drew's heart that these girls have grown up never being told they are beautiful; never knowing the love of a father or mother; but most of all never knowing the Love of God. (Video) The girls at Hope House were so excited about our visit that they prepared a dance to perform for us. (Picture) Here are all the girls from Hope House posing for a picture together. |

==========<   STREET OUTREACH   >==========Between visits to orphanages, we would find strategic locations in San Juan de Lurigancho to set up a sound board and speaker. We would play loud music to attract a crowd, then perform a few dramas and present the Gospel. We saw over 100 people give their lives to Christ during one day of street outreach in three different locations! Praise God! (Video) 'Team North' gathers a crowd by performing a spontaneous rap song (Griffin provides the beat-box!). (Picture) We brought several suitcases full of toys for the children of 'Juan Pablo'. |

==========<   VILLA LA PAZ   >==========Villa la Paz is the place that really moved Connie & Grace's hearts. Villa la Paz ( or 'Home of Peace') is a home for destitute ill children directed by Dr. Anthony Lazzara, a pediatrician who left an academic position at Emory University in 1983 to begin working with the poor children of Peru. We were so blessed to be able to visit and play with the babies and the children, and visit with the young adults that are staying at the home. (Video) Below is a video montage of our time at Villa la Paz. (Picture) The group picture at the park. Connie- far right, light blue shirt; Griffin- middle back, brown shirt; Grace- blue shirt, immediate right of Griffin; Drew- red shirt, laying down front. |

==========<   WHAT GOD DID IN US   >==========The theme of our trip was to "take Heaven to Peru" and we did! We came back full of God's love for us and for others! God really ministered to all of us while we were in Peru ministering to 'the least of these' (Mt 25:34-40).
